Marilyn & Gerald enjoying the 2018 Bayside Garden Party

The Owners

Owners Marilyn MacDonald and Gerald Jackson are both home-grown Cape Breton kids with a strong devotion to each other, their business and their community. In 2004 they opened the doors to The Bayside Garden Centre as a way to contribute to the local economy and serve the community by doing something they are passionate about – producing top quality food and flowers! When they are not at the Bayside you can almost certainly find them at the farm working on one project or another.

Stop in and see what they’re up to these days!

The Farm 2020

The Farm

Situated at the head of Lake Ainslie is a beautiful, fertile piece of land that is the MacDonald family farm. Over the years Marilyn and Gerald have worked hard, along with family, friends and staff, to develop this field into a highly productive component of not only the Bayside Garden Centre, but the local Food Hub.

It is truly a little slice of paradise tucked away by ancient apple trees. Carefully tended rows produce not only fruits, herbs, vegetables, but this is also the home of our locally grown perennials and fresh cut flowers.
